WIT Announces 17th Annual WIT Connect: Connecting for a Cause

Amy Hassinger and Debey Stratton to Co-Chair

Annual Fundraising Event Benefits Girls Get IT

Women In Technology (WIT), an association committed to the development of women in Georgia’s technology industry, today announced Amy Hassinger and Debey Stratton will co-chair WIT Connect: Connecting for a Cause to be held at 200 Peachtree on June 15, 2011.

WIT Connect is a unique fundraiser that auctions time with executives from top Georgia corporations, drawing hundreds of leaders in the technology community together to raise money in support of WIT programming aimed at developing leaders and WIT Foundation philanthropy initiatives like Girls Get IT and grants to STEM-focused nonprofits.

Girls Get IT is the WIT Foundation’s initiative to connect the business community with middle- and high-school-aged girls to inspire them to select careers in science, technology, engineering and math. Over the last three years, WIT Connect has raised more than $800,000 to support WIT’s mission to serve as passionate advocates for advancing women in Georgia’s technology community.

“Last year, more than 400 technology professionals and executives turned out for WIT Connect, breaking records to raise more than $400,000 to support WIT and the WIT Foundation,” said Heather S. Rocker, executive director of WIT. “We’re looking forward to another great event with our talented WIT Connect co-chairs, Amy Hassinger and Debey Stratton, so that we can serve more women and girls who seek to advance in science and technology careers,” continued Rocker.

“We’re excited about WIT Connect for 2011,” commented Debey Stratton, “not only because of the unique networking opportunities it presents for today’s leaders in the Georgia technology community, but also for the opportunity to support young women as they grow to become the future leaders in technology.”

WIT Connect will take place at the Grand Atrium at 200 Peachtree, a new venue in the heart of Atlanta. WIT Connect will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 5:30 pm.
