If you went back to work this New Year with excitement for great things to come, good for you!
Go for it!
For others of us, it may take a little longer to get going (Especially, if you had that nasty stomach flu bug that’s going around like I did! Cough!).
While you may be happy and hopeful of good things to come this year, you may also feel a little bit of dread as you go back to work and the “same old, same old.”
(On a side note, I just went back to my regular workouts after recovering from my cold, and the soreness doesn’t make it any easier to be full of “gusto”! They say that, “pain is weakness escaping.” Well, I must have a lot of weakness right now! Ha!)
If you are not excited about starting fresh and going back to work, you’re not alone.
Many of us work exceedingly long hours and put our blood, sweat and tears into our businesses.
Then, by the time we get a break, our bodies let us know that we’ve waited too long to unwind and not think about work! After a few days of rest, staying in the warm bed in the morning sounds much better than making phone calls, sending emails, giving presentations, etc.
Well, there is no need to worry.
If you want to feel better about what you’re doing and jumpstart your excitement level for your work and life, here are a few quick tips…
If you don’t have a zest for your work or life any longer, it’s time to stop and think about what you really want.
Make a list of all of your goals (both big and small). Write down everything that you love to do.
Are you doing these things now? Why not? What’s stopping you (for real)?
Take a look at all of the activities you do each day.
What do you really dislike doing?
See if you can outsource these activities to an intern, skilled worker at a service like Upwork or someone else. It may cost money, but you won’t have to do these activities any longer, and that can mean instant happiness!
Also, who do you work with who is negative, shows disrespect and always brings you down?
It’s wise to get away from these toxic people at all cost. If it’s your boss, a co-worker, a partner, or someone else, try to figure out how you can stop working with this person.
You’ll be surprised at home much your attitude will change if you surround yourself with professionals who respect you and have a positive attitude instead!
When was the last time you actually looked at how long you spend doing mundane tasks each day, fixing the work of others and doing activities you just don’t like doing?
Make a list and see how you really spend your time each day.
If you don’t like what you see, think about how you can outsource certain activities, get up earlier or stay up later to finish key tasks, stop doing certain things altogether, and more.
What do you really need to do to spend more time on the things that matter to you?
If you dread your current work and schedule, do something about it!
Make a list of what you really want and what you need to do to obtain your goals.
Figure out who is bringing you down, and surround yourself with positive people who care about your success instead.
Also, take a good look at how you really spend your time. You may be surprised that a few simple changes can make a huge difference in your schedule!
The New Year is here. It’s time for a fresh start that makes you happy at work and in life!
