You could say Kimberley-Clark B2B Global Procurement Leader Angela Thomas-Anderson has it all – a successful career, loving marriage, two beautiful kids and two dogs.
She’s worked on Wall Street, auditioned for the Food Network, served as an envoy to Senegal for the 1996 Olympics, and is currently the highest ranking African American woman in her company.
Not to mention, she’s fluent in French.
But, as many men credit personal success to the strong women supporting them, Anderson also attributes much of her achievement to an “incredibly supportive” husband.
“I would not have been able to do as much as I’ve done without him,” she says.
During her MBA studies in international business at Robinson School of Business, part of Anderson’s curriculum required studying abroad.
At the time, her son was in preschool and playing soccer.
So, while she studied at Ecole supérieure de Commerce in Toulouse, France, her husband, Dr. Anthony Anderson looked after their son.
“We stayed connected through frequent phone calls and emails,” says Anderson, who still travels extensively for business.
“Now, with technology, we use Skype to connect everyone.”
She and her husband often plan and coordinate schedules, activities and upcoming events during their morning commutes.
Still, after nearly 20 years of marriage, the two busy career professionals regularly make special time for one another.
“In the evenings, we like to spend time together listening to classical music over tea,” she says. “The relaxation time together helps us rejuvenate.”
