Tamara Comolli is a German based fine-jewelry designer, renowned within the jewelry industry for traveling the world to hand-pick some of the rarest gemstones found in nature for her signature collections. With her father running Casino’s during her childhood, Comolli grew up around amazing bejeweled women, and has thus been passionate about gemstones from a young age. After going on to obtain a business degree through university schooling and working in various marketing and consulting jobs, Comolli finally returned to her original love for gemology and launching her own eponymous company in 1992. Now, over 20 years later, she has turned her childhood dream into a successful luxury brand. With boutiques located in Europe, The Hamptons and Palm Beach, Comolli seeks to make every day luxury jewelry with a casual-chic vibe that highlights the natural beauty of the wearer.
Q: Business person, public speaker, designer, friend, counselor or… which title best describes you? I would describe myself first and foremost as an adventurer. I have an insatiable curiosity that keeps my life interesting. I’m an avid traveler, and love exploring different countries, experiencing new cultures and seeing the wonders the world has to offer. Luckily my career allows me to travel often, whether it be to my boutiques in the US or in Europe, or for sourcing trips to China, Africa, the Middle East and on..
Q: Is there a specific person or persons who helped pave your current walk? My son is an extremely influential figure in my life. Although he is young, he constantly reminds me the value of patience and the key role it plays in achieving your desires.
Q: What part of your life’s journey helps illustrate your current story? My childhood was a key time in my life, for both my personal as well as my professional development. My parents traveled constantly and brought me and my siblings along with them. Experiencing the world, and developing a worldly perspective at such a young age has opened my mind, fueled my creativity, and in many ways served as a catalyst for the success of my brand.
Q: How do your dream at night? I dream crazily… my dreams jump from private to business , to old stories and new desires and also about how to go about the next collection. I often have nightmares about running out of gemstones as well!
Q: Do you cling onto a specific faith? If so, please describe: Yes, I believe that there is a greater power, but we will have to wait and see.
Q: What would you address at a Woman’s Conference; can you provide three mini-lessons? Three important lessons that I would like to share, are:
– Do not argue or try to challenge those who disagree with you, but rather try to understand the matter at hand from their perspective. No one ever wins an argument, it just leaves both sides upset and even more defensive of their own initial beliefs.
– The ability to multitask is generally a feminine trait, so accept that your male counterparts might not share the same capacity to divide their focus.
– When the opportunity presents itself, talk in person or on the phone rather than via e-mail. There is too much room for interpretation when communicating through text.
Q: If Biography were to contact you in regards to your life’s success…which strategy would you convey knowing your words would live a legacy? Tell the truth and at the same time look at the world through the eyes of others. The way you perceive yourself might be too personally biased and tough too understand from an outside perspective.
Q: Have you reached your life’s purpose? If so how, if not, what should we look forward to and when? I have always dreamt of building my own brand, and made up my mind early on that I would make that dream a reality. During the beginning the workload often made me forget what I was working to achieve, but as Tamara Comolli Fine Jewelry started to garner success, I slowly saw my dream come true before my eyes. Of course I still encounter day-to-day hurdles, but can now proudly say that I have founded a globally recognized luxury brand. The work that lay before me now, is to create pieces and tell a story that inspires others, and motivates them to build dreams of their own.
