Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Next Conference

Whether it’s Content Marketing Strategy or Something Else, Get the Most Out of Each Event You Attend

This week, I speak at the big, GKIC SuperConference in Orlando. It’s going to be great to share tips and insights about SEO copywriting and content marketing strategy and meet fellow associates and new entrepreneurs.

It’s has involved many weeks of preparation, and with this, it got me thinking about how you can get the most out of every conference, tradeshow and event you attend.

Here are a few of my tips…

How to Prepare for Your Next Conference or Event

  • What do you want to accomplish?

If you are spending the time, money and effort to attend an event, it’s important to think about your goals before you leave.

Do you want to just listen to good speakers?
Do you want to meet specific people who can move your business to the next level?
Do you want to learn new tips?

Even if you just have small goals, know what they are in advance.

  • What actions do you need to take?

Once you have your goals, what do you need to do to make them happen?

If you are just going to listen, be sure to take notes on key points. After all, you’re bound to get some unique insights that you can use in your business in life so write them down, or enter them into your computer so you remember them.

If you want to meet specific people, how are you going to make that happen?

Figure out what you are going to say when you introduce yourself. Be personable and avoid a “sales” pitch.

If you want to learn new things to help your business, which workshops, presentations, breakout sessions, and more do you need to attend?

Look at the schedule in advance and plan your day around your specific goals.

  • What happens after the event?

Once you get home, you’ll have a lot of information and be excited to move forward on what you’ve learned. Be sure to review your notes as soon as possible and reach out to the people you met.

Yes, it’s great that you got a lot out of the conference. But, if you don’t follow up on everything you learned, and touch base with your new contacts, you miss opportunities and waste a lot of the time, effort and money you put into going to the event in the first place!

Get Ready to Advance Your Business!

By attending an event, you get the extra benefit of communicating with people in person, sharing a joint excitement with fellow entrepreneurs and learning new things that aren’t available any other way.

Be sure to take advantage everything your event has to offer and decide on your goals, know how you are going to reach those goals and follow up accordingly. This way, you’ll spend your resources cost-effectively and get the most out of each event possible!

Have a great time at your next event, and I hope to see you this week at the GKIC SuperConference!
