At last a woman joins the Facebook board – a dramatic change for the male-only club.
Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, will be the eighth member of the board. She’s spent four years at the company.
Criticism for the lack of women at the world’s most popular social network has hurt their reputation. After all, most Facebook users are….you guessed it: Women!
Some thought-leaders we spoke to speculated that the plummeting stock price may have had something to do with the lack of women on their board. Companies with more women in key roles perform better financially. Let’s see if Sandberg’s new appointment helps.
We hope this move will encourage the whopping 11 percent of other Fortune 500 companies that remain all-male bastions, to change their ways too. Let’s name names.
