So you’ve spent what feels like years trying to work out what career path to go down and yet you’re still stuck. You’re still working a job you hate or studying for a degree that you’re not sure you want – right now life sucks. You desperately need to find a career option that could be perfect for you. But so far, nothing has taken your fancy, despite the fact you’ve attended career fair after career fair. Why can’t you find a role that’s perfect for you? Is having a job that you love too much to ask?
Maybe, just maybe, the problem is that you’re looking at popular roles. What about going down a different route and looking at career ideas that aren’t as popular but come with some fantastic potential? (Not to mention, great rates of pay and awesome career advancement opportunities.) To help you land your dream job, I thought I would share four career ideas with you that you most probably haven’t considered, but really should have!
Reputation management is the new PR. It’s hot right now because it’s such a new career option. As a reputation manager, you’d be in charge of dealing with the websites and social media channels of your clients. You’d be responsible for fine-tuning them, to ensure that the right image is presented. The pay is fantastic, the role is new, and it’s something that you can do from home. That’s right, if you opt to be a reputation manager, you could consider going freelance and working from home. Studies have shown that this will be one of the best paid roles in the communications industry by 2020.
Have you ever thought about working in construction? It might not be an industry that appeals to you, but if you want a high paying role with plenty of opportunities for career advancement, it could be ideal. The great thing about a role in the construction industry is that as women make up 26% of the construction workforce, you would earn more than a male worker.
A lot of women think of personal training as being a predominantly male role. However, that’s not the case. While 65 percent of personal trainers tend to be men, this is slowly changing with more and more women becoming personal trainers every year. If you’re a fitness lover, like the idea of working flexibly, and want a good income, working as a PT could be perfect for you.
Have you always had a passion for creativity? Do you have some impressive IT and design skills? If so, a career as a computer game designer could be ideal. This might sound like a strange idea, but the money is good, you can work from home, and there are plenty of opportunities for progression. You’ll need to be able to code, but if you can’t don’t stress as there are plenty of online beginner classes for this.
So there you have it, four career ideas that you’ve probably never heard of but should have. These aren’t all the unique ideas you could opt to pursue for your career, so if these aren’t for you, don’t give up.
