If there’s one time when you can go crazy and show your diva style, it’s when you’re getting married. You should be able to add personal touches throughout your wedding to make it memorable. And you should probably let the groom have a say occasionally too. The first thing your guests will see from your wedding is the invitations. They’re your chance to set the tone and let them know what to expect. Some couples select a standard design, but others want to create their own. If you want to put your personal magic into your invites, here’s how you can make sure they’re diva-licious.
Choose Your Wedding Theme/Colors
Your invites need to set the scene for the rest of your wedding, so you need to know what’s happening. You don’t have to have everything planned out, but you do need a basic idea. At the least, you should pick a theme or design scheme to get started. If you know what colors you want to use, you can incorporate them into the invites. Even if you haven’t totally locked down any wedding plans, your invites don’t have to be too fancy. Keep them simple and they won’t look mismatched with the rest of your wedding if the direction changes slightly.
Think Outside of the Standard Invite
There’s a standard size and shape for wedding invitations – 4.5″ by 6.25″ rectangles. But who wants to stick to the norm when you can do your own thing? You can play with the size to start with. If that’s not enough for you, you can try out some different shapes. Your invites could be any shape you want them to be. Although, you do need to think about getting all the text on them and putting them in envelopes. If you’re having a floral wedding, it could be shaped like a rose. Or you could create a cocktail shaker invite for a fun party wedding.
Words and Typeface
When you choose what to write on your invites and how to write it, you need to think about practicality. You want it to look beautiful, but people also need to be able to read it. You don’t want to have a tiny calligraphy script that no one can make out. Otherwise, you’re not going to get many guests turning up. You can find some examples of pretty and legible typefaces on freebie.983invitation.com. Choose the information you use carefully too. Stick to the most relevant details so that the card doesn’t get too crowded.
Add a Unique Touch
If you want your invites to be memorable, you could do something unexpected with them. Maybe each of your invites can be folded into a pretty decoration. Perhaps you could include a fridge magnet so that everyone can pin them somewhere noticeable. Or you could embellish them with crystals or add ribbon to them. Think of unique ways you could make them stand out.
Your invites are the first thing your guests will see, so make them count. Show them that your wedding will be one to remember…
