Holiday Trends for You + Me

Tommy Hilfiger, like Catherine Scholze and Rigby & Peller have one thing in common: They want to rock our world this winter season. Inspired by the fusion of fashion, art, music and entertainment, the winter trends for 2015 range from jet-set rock-star style to contemporary cool.

Hilfiger’s collection blends elements influenced by the best of pop culture. Mod silhouettes are updated with his classic red, white and blue palette, yet receives a retro ‘70s twist to each of his looks. His stylish classics, fused with a playful fashion edge, shouts rich textures, fluid tailoring, macro patterns and bold color.

“There are a couple of things that make me happy to see on the runways for this winter: Color in wardrobe staples,” says Catherine Griffiths Scholze, president and creative director of Catherine Scholze.

“A lot of collections showcase color beyond just a red accent. Instead, we see hues that play a big role in blouses, sweaters, and skirts and that work for a lot of people… cherry reds, marsala, a soft version of salmon goes with lots of neutrals and adds personality to any type of outfit,” says Scholze.

“And, I’ve seen great neutrals too: a grey with a bit of blue undertone, a warm navy, a good darker version of camel and [my personal favorite] a mossy green that Pantone calls Herb,” she adds. Scholze suggests building a real power suit from any of these.

What about the colors we wear underneath our clothing? “Foundations matter the most,” says Jennifer O’Connell of Rigby & Peller Lingerie Stylists London. We agree with her: lingerie is key to optimizing your body shape, so some of the most important wardrobe choices we make are the items underneath our clothing.

“The Details collection, which features jewel tones like emerald, sapphire and ruby invite us in… as the weather gets cooler, we tend to gravitate toward warm colors,” says O’Connell. “Back to Black, which includes black and various shades of grey, is a departure from last fall when navy blue replaced a lot of the black that we usually see as a basic. Tenderness on the other hand, features pastel pink and ivory. The Tenderness trend gives us our “feminine touch” for the season,” she smiles.

“And, we have found that women who wear beautiful lingerie feel more confident and it shows,” she smiles, again.
