Hurry, Hungry, Healthy

Sticking to a healthy diet is one thing, but when the only options are vending machines, hotel room service or airport cafeterias, nutritious choices seem scarce.

Yet, when traveling or on the go, there are alternatives that will keep you full without expanding your waistline.

“Being busy isn’t an excuse for not eating healthfully,” Tanya Zuckerbrot, registered dietician, celebrity nutritionist and author of The F-Factor Diet, tells PINK. “There are options that exist in Starbucks and convenience stores that are low in calories and high in fiber and protein.”

What to look for? Zuckerbrot recommends a high-fiber diet to stay trim, energized, and best of all – satisfied.

Fiber doesn’t just come from prunes and Metamucil. “It’s found in everything from pasta and greens to English muffins, beans and lentil soup,” says Zuckerbrot.

Her site lists nutritious foods you can find at airports, like mini carrots and healthy sandwiches. And she recommends planning ahead: “pack your own fruit, nuts and fiber-rich bars to snack on during the flight.”

Other experts say cooking large portions you can freeze and grab later, not skipping meals and going light on condiments will help you stay healthy without slowing down.
