Looking Forward to Fall: Color, Luxurious Fabrics and a Return to Classic Silhouettes

I was very excited to read the Pantone Fall 2015 report when it came out: it was an elegant departure from the somber colors of the past few forecasts.  With rich colors like Marsala, Biscay Bay, Cashmere Rose and Cadmium Orange worked against more business-like staples Oak Buff, Stormy Weather, and Reflecting Pond I couldn’t help but fantasize about having a lot more color in my fall collection.  Looking at the fall runways, I can tell you the designer community has not disappointed!  Picture rich staples in great silhouettes that you have loved and missed returning to the stores and your wardrobes.  Here are the items I am most excited about:

• The return of the wide-leg pant. Not just the ultra-wide palazzo pants that only the very tallest of us can wear, no.  You’ll find a leg width for everyone: wide, medium-wide, cropped, and even some of the skinny styles people have loved for the past few seasons.
• Luxurious fabrics: double-faced wool, boucle, cashmere, suede, and leather are everywhere.
• The denim suit. It’s a bit early for retailers to show, but it’s coming!  I love this as a travel option, and some of my colleagues inform me that they can wear this to work most of the time.
• Lots and lots of gorgeous jackets in all kinds of shapes: collar-less, shawl-collar, vests, you name it!

This fall’s clothes are clearly about conveying the image of a strong woman, whether in business or in play.  And I, for one, think it’s about time!  Enjoy the new season!
