Treat Your Employee Right

You are a great motivator and you know exactly how to engage your employees, but with the recent budget cuts, you had to reduce your staff’s perks – from travel rewards to end-of-year bonuses. Looking for ways to reward your best employees?

Creative companies concentrate largely on their employees’ Life/Work balance and are offering everything from tuition reimbursement to cholesterol monitoring and free mammograms.

Some like Sloan Valve, a leading manufacturer of water-efficient plumbing, concentrate on their fitness. “Taking this to the next level with exercise programs and free workout facilities reinforces that employees are the most important component of any company’s success,” says Sherry Davenport, their director of marketing.

Here are more low-cost perks:

Offer work from home days, pizza Fridays, free car washes and community service days, says Entrepreneur.com.

Studies show that cash incentives don’t always stay in an employee’s mind. Give your employees two free “I Don’t Want to Get Out of Bed” days a year for sickness, family outings, or just because.

Don’t have the budget for perks? Incentive Magazine suggests taking time to celebrate new business, involve your employees in meetings and decision-making and encourage mentorship.
