Boy I can tell you one thing for sure, I am grateful and blessed to have met so many new and wonderful women in 2008 as I set out on a new journey of entrepreneurship. I didn’t know many local women business owners and so I quickly turned to the internet in search of sisterhood, support and mentorship. I quickly discovered the power of the virtual world. Today I belong to several social networking sites and founded a few of my own. I have developed several virtual friendships and partnerships with women whom I have yet to meet but look forward to.
I encourage any woman seeking to connect with like-minded women to enter into the virtual sisterhood sites and explore the opportunities to engage with and connect with powerful, leading ladies. This is especially true if you are one of few women entrepreneurs in your community and even more so if you are one of few women of color living as a solopreneur! It’s wonderful to in just a few clicks be instantly connected with a sisterfriend who is traveling a similar path and get the support or encouragement you need to keep it moving.
It also appears that often times you can find and connect with local women who may also be in sister sites, so there is a double benefit in joining and participating in a virtual sisterhood. I believe any opportunity to connect, share, experience and transform through a virtual connection is of tremendous value. In fact, my speaking and coaching business has been a success as a result of the global connections I have made.
