The Power of Thanks

A small word that means so much!

Are you rushing around trying to finish year-end projects in addition to preparing for all of your personal, holiday events?

You are not alone.

It’s that time of year when we all deal with a whirlwind of activities and more stress.

But here are a few quick insights that may help…

• What are you most thankful for?

Stop and think about the top 5 things you are most thankful for right now.

This only takes a few seconds, and it is especially important as we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving here in the U.S.

Just by taking some time to focus on what you have can significantly improve your mood!

• Who are the people you are most thankful for in your life?

Think about all of the people in your life (past and present) who help you accomplish your goals and make your life better.

When was the last time you let them know how much they mean to you?

Give them a call, send them a note, schedule lunch… just get in touch ASAP! After all, you may not have the opportunity to do so in the future.

Also, the words “thank you” can mean more than you know to your team members.

What would happen if you started thanking them more often and even gave them a surprise gift, brought in special treats for the office or did something else to show you care?

You could even start a gratitude program where team members report on how they are thankful for the people they work with on a regular basis.

What would this do to your overall, company culture?

Expressing your gratitude also applies to your customers, partners, associates, investors, and more.

After all, they are part of your success, too.

When was the last time you thanked them… just because?

Now, you may be thinking that you don’t have the funds for this.

No worries! You can always give someone a handwritten card with a heartfelt message, create a personal video or provide another helpful action that shows you appreciate them (without spending a dime)!

Just Say Thanks!

“Thank you” is a short phrase, but it means so much. Not only do others like to hear it, but it can make you realize how fortunate you are and improve your mood.

With this in mind, and all of the holiday “craziness” upon us, try to take a moment each day to remember your “thankful list.” Life goes by quickly, and if you don’t take a moment to focus on what’s really important, you may miss it.
