4 Great Online Accounting, Bookkeeping & Invoicing Apps

The height of tax season is around the corner and, for the unorganized that means it’s time to get organized – fast.

Today’s small business owners, freelancers and WAHMs have an overwhelming amount of accounting software to choose from. But, which are best?

Money Crashers put together a list of the best full service online accounting apps that provide bookkeeping, accounting, time management and customer relationship management programs.

Quickbooks online, also available for download for those who prefer use a non-cloud based system, has five online accounting packages and offers every accounting and bookkeeping option any business needs for $12.95.

Though users have the ability to import Excel data and print checks, its Online Simple Starter package lacks recurring billing and estimate to invoice conversion features often included in competitors’ starter packages.

Freshbooks is a Canadian-based bookkeeping and time tracking system with over 5 million users. With an attractive and easy-to-use interface, it offers collaboration and team management tools, allows expense, time and billing tracking and it’s free for those with three or fewer clients.

However, their second-tier, paid option is a bit more expensive than its competitors at $19.95.

For those with international clients, Kashoo allows multi-currency invoicing. It immediately shows exchange rates for over 100 currencies and offers bank reconciliation and claims support to all banks. Though the free version is limited to one user, their Freelancer package is very affordable at $10 per month.

Toronto-based Wave Accounting is great for home-based businesses, work-at-home moms and other small businesses with few staff members.

It is integrated with Shoeboxed, so users can connect or upload bank statements, credit card bills and receipts. It also provides balance sheets, a general ledger and income statements.

Users cannot yet reconcile bank statements or produce an audit trail, but the software is always evolving with frequent upgrades.
