You are ready to grow your business and expand your horizons with help from government contracts – but where to start?
The federal government is giving out contracts worth big bucks to a growing number of women owned firms, according to an AMEX OPEN study of more than 1,500 women owners. Results show that two thirds of women whose firms do business with the federal government generate more than $1 million in sales, even though it took an average of nearly two years to land their first contract.
How did they do it? Most started with small contracts which lead to larger opportunities. “Persistence helps, and it’s paying off,” says Susan Sobbott, president of American Express OPEN, which conducted the study.
