How To Host The Perfect Event

A big part of making your business run is promoting the name and brand of your business. You can do all the hard work day-to-day, but unless you are attracting customers to your business, you might not be making as much money as you deserve to do.

There are a lot of ways to promote your business in this day and age. From SEO marketing to social media, the internet offers no end to the tools you can use to promote your company to the world!

And if you’re on top of internet marketing, good! You’re on the right path. However, if you’re ignoring methods in the physical world, you could be really missing out.

The best way to market yourself, your business and your brand in the flesh? Hosting an event, of course!

Starting off is pretty easy as well, you just need to get out there. Experience events and networking opportunities in your local area and beyond and witness what goes on. This is the best way to start to plan your event as you can see how others do it and pick up tips! You can even network while you do this and meet other business owners and gain more knowledge and advice in other areas. If you are looking into the possibility of hosting a business event, there’s no reason to avoid visiting other events as you may pick up some fantastic ideas.

So with events, we know they are one of the best ways that you can expose your business to a wider audience. One of the best things to do might be to hire an event planner, but with tighter budgets, this isn’t always possible. However, it’s not impossible!

If you are planning a business event, you need to plan your goals. While not sinister in nature, you need a goal from your event other than just an expensive chance to hobnob! You need to get something out of it so you can measure the success of your event. Do you want an increase in business? An increase in subscriptions in your newsletter? Set a goal so you can measure your event and see if it was a success.

Before you start your event, you need to plan it out! Decide on the type of event you want to host for your business! Is it a launch party or baking expo? Find out what event will work best for your needs and audience. Of course, make sure you’re not hosting your event on a public holiday or a larger industry event.

Of course, you need to consider who to invite and attracting some leading names could make your business event a huge success. Bring the influencers in on your guest list and help yourself achieve your goals for the event. Of course, include invitations to the people you want to attract as well as groups associated with your business. Finally, don’t invite your guests a week before the event, give them plenty of notice with a personal invitation.

A good way to save money and boost the attendance of your event is to partner with another business. Your partner company can market the event as well as you and boost the attendance and benefit both businesses involved. Sometimes the pressure can really ramp up when you are the focus, and this is a good idea if you’re feeling a bit worried about your business being the sole focus of the event. It doesn’t always have to just rest on your shoulders!

Marketing your event is something that should be done as soon as it is all planned out. Tease the event in advance and keep your customers, clients, and partner up to date with social media. Also, on the day of the event make sure to keep your social media presence going!

Giving away freebies is a good idea, but it really depends on the type of business you are running. In some cases, free items given away at business events are not really suitable. This is a case by case scenario, though.

Of course, make sure you have planned the amenities and facilities of the event out to a point. For every question you ask, find an answer. Are there disabled guests coming? Well, inquire about the buildings disability access! Do you have toilets on site? If not, speak to someone like Elegance toilet hire and get that issue sorted! What about catering? Make sure there is plenty of food and drinks for your guests. Things like this are so obvious but can get lost in the scope of the big picture.

All of this does get expensive so make sure you have an event budget and stick to it, if certain additions can’t be afforded by your business, don’t buy them! Overextending on an event is a bad idea, so stick to the budget and perfect the basics of an event.

Also, make sure your event screams out loud about your business. Branding is a good idea with banners, cards, and leaflets. If your guests don’t know who your business is after an event, that could be down to lack of promotion on the day.

When the day comes, make yourself as the owner of the business available. Your event is yours, so network and meet and greet your guests who have taken the time out of their packed schedules to come along! This is hard work after weeks of planning, but it must be done! After all, what’s the point of not showing up?

After the business event, follow up with everyone kind enough to leave you their contact information. Newsletters and personal calls go a long way to leaving a personal touch without your business feeling like one long sales pitch! If your event is larger in scale, it might be a good idea to delegate some of the follow-up activities to members of your team.

Hosting an event can be a really fun thing to do, so don’t let the stress of the day take control.
