Healthcare -€“ What’s In It For You?

Staying healthy while juggling your career and family can be a daunting task – especially with the added stress of worrying about the cost of your next OB-GYN visit.

Insurance companies charge women higher premiums than men because of “gender rating” conditions like childbirth, c-sections or domestic violence; counting these as pre-existing conditions.

Wondering how you’ll benefit?

Being an entrepreneur has many benefits, such as letting you call the shots. The healthcare reform sets up tax credits to reduce the financial burden of insurance for small business owners. Starting this year, you can get a 35% tax credit if you have 10 or fewer employees that earn an average of less than $25,000.

Effective January 1, 2011, insurance companies are required to waive co-payments and deductibles on preventive care, including those regular mammograms recommended by the American Cancer Society.

Thinking of sandy beaches and retirement? A temporary reinsurance program will help pay insurance premiums of retirees between the ages 55 and 64 and for those laid off during the recession.

Bonus PINK Link: Choosing the right insurance is not a “one-and-done” deal. Here’s how to decide what you need – and when.
