Stepping Into Fall

With the seasons changing, it’s about time to put away the strappy sandals and ready your closet space for colder months to come. Question is, which work shoes should you keep close at hand and which can be stowed in the attic until next spring?

Don’t worry about doing a complete shoe overhaul, since many styles will carry over to next season. “Try updating your shoe collection with a pair or two according to trends to keep your look current,” says Robanne Schulman, fashion guru, celebrity stylist and owner of Plaid Monkey.

These styles are here to stay:

Patent leather has maintained popularity for more than a century. So, it’s safe to say there’s nothing more timeless than a pair of classic shiny pumps. We like these from Christian Louboutin, JS by Jessica Oscar, and Bebe.

If you’ve been holding onto your animal print pair, hoping you could wear them again, “it’s definitely the year to do so,” says Schulman. Prints have been popping up on runways everywhere, with designers like Jimmy Choo taking his traditional pallet of black, nude and red and adding a dash of cheetah print. Here’s a similar (but more affordable) option from Enzo Angiolini.

Need more variety? Try a stylish riding boot on Casual Friday or try pairing them with a light sweater and mid-length skirt.
