It seems like everyone is “going green” these days. According to a recent poll, 80 percent of young professionals are interested in a job that positively impacts the environment, and 92 percent would prefer to work for an environmentally friendly company. So, what’s the big gain for companies looking to help the planet? Saving money.
From grants, incentives and government contracting to green marketing, product development and pollution prevention, there are plenty of benefits to making your company more sustainable. Just ask Jennifer Nichols, owner of eco-friendly dog daycare Green Dog.
She received a $250K loan for her business thanks to the Small Business Administration. “Dogs are my passion, and Green Dog is a true labor of love,” says Nichols. The Green Dog building is LEED certified, everything she sells is all-natural and her business loan is 90 percent government-backed.
But it’s not just small businesses that are benefitting: Grand Hyatt Singapore updated their entire ventilation and A/C system with a more efficient, environmentally-friendly one as part of their Green Energy Management project. The $2.5 million investment is saving the company more than $1 million a year.
