From business contacts to longtime friends, experts say face-to-face interaction is vital to relationship building – especially in our technology-driven world. A party may be the perfect way to take advantage of summer weather while catching up with girlfriends and helping spark new business connections.
Can’t shell out much cash? “Be creative,” Sandi Hoffman, an award-winning event planner, tells PINK. If you’ve got a little to spare, “spend it on lighting to create an atmosphere.”
She adds that the right guests, drinks and timeline (not having everyone in the same place for too long) are more important than the venue itself, so don’t stress if you’re working with a small space. What to avoid? “Heat!” says Hoffman, who advises being ready to lead guests inside if the temperature becomes uncomfortable.
Want more?
Try sending out online invitations to save money and your guests’ time – Punchbowl, Evite and Purple Trail offer customizable, chic invites for free.
To ensure friends and acquaintances are comfortable mingling, try using place cards or creative nametags, and help introduce guests to others in similar industries or with similar interests.
Want your soiree to be eco-friendly? “Empty wine bottles become great centerpieces with beeswax candles. Newspaper makes a fun overlay for the table. Old sheets cut into squares make terrific napkins, and rocks can be used as place card holders,” says Hoffman.
