It’s about that time of year again, ladies! Sweaters are getting thicker, ovens are getting hotter, and “food babies” are busting buttons on jeans. But before we unplug and dedicate a day to our own isolated lives, PINK wants to take a moment to talk about what we’re most thankful for this Thanksgiving:

YOU! PINK’s 12th Annual Fall Empowerment Luncheon would not have been a success without all the enthusiasm and support from all the women who attended. We are so grateful that women took time out of their busy schedules to attend and spread the word about authenticity this season. A special shout out to our panelists and sponsors Emory University, The Coca-Cola Company, Dunkin’ Brands, Mighty Leaf Tea, Southern Company, GreenbergTraurig, Randstad US, SunTrust, The Home Depot and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. The color pink! Pre-Elle Woods, pink was not a socially acceptable color to wear to work. In PINK’s early days, when PINK magazine was still in print, a woman wrote us an angry letter disparaging our support of the color pink. “I save the color pink for the inner lining of my navy blue suit,” she said. At the time, the more feminine a woman appeared in corporate America, the less she was respected. And that included wearing the color pink. Women were forced to assimilate to be one of the guys. Now, the corporate world is changing. And even though we have a long way to go, being able to express ourselves in fashion is a small victory.

Our staff! The PINK Team works tirelessly to bring you the tools to build a beautiful career and a beautiful life. This would not be possible without our Editor-in-Chief Mavian Arocha-Rowe, Account Manager Alicia Michels, Associate Editor and Producer Jessica Wise, Social Media/Marketing Intern Mansi Tanna, and IT Manager Emma Loggins. Thank you, team, for helping women take over the world!

Feminism! Less than 100 years ago, women did not have right to vote. Just 50 years ago, black women were still pushing for their right to vote without disenfranchisement. Native American women, less than 100 years ago, were not even recognized as citizens. Today in 2016, Muslim women are attacked for publicly wearing hijabs. And women who have tons of experience and produce sweat equity are still passed for top jobs. We’re thankful that we as American women now have a voice to speak out against these atrocities and push for change.

Female friendships! In a world not made for women, our greatest ally is one another. We have to unite as women, no matter what our ethnicities, gender identities, or religions may be in order make women as a gender successful. And more women are starting to get with the program. This means that we listen to one another, that we respect one another’s choices. Whether you need an outlet to complain about your kids or a partner in crime to cheat on your diet with, friendships are what keep us sane. We’re thankful for the women who stand together.
