It’s great to be your own boss. But after the realities of ownership set in (think employee management, money matters and nonexistent weekends), it’s easy to forget why you started your company in the first place.
Need help falling back in love with your business?
“It’s easy to fall out of love with our work by getting bogged down in the to-do’s,” Marian Baker, coach, speaker and author of Wake Up Inspired, tells PINK. “Ask yourself: What’s my most important job? What is it that I want my company to stand for?”
She adds that daily habits can lead us to forget our main mission and what inspires us to succeed. “When we hit the pause button and move beyond tasks, we can reflect on our higher mission and become re-energized.”
If there’s an aspect you find particularly grueling, like website maintenance or customer inquiries, passing the task off to an employee or hiring a virtual assistant can allow you to focus on more important projects.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Experts say a mini-vacation or a weekend seminar may be the ticket to get a revamped business perspective and generate new ideas.
