The Survivor

A Singapore native, JuE Wong has traveled the world and worked in seven countries. Today, she lives in Atlanta as CEO of Astral Health & Beauty, which boasts a revenue of $120 million.

Wong has served on the board of directors for PepsiCo International and worked in leadership positions at MURAD Inc. and ZO Skin Health. She currently serves on the boards of the Metro Atlanta YMCA and the American Heart Association. The latter organization holds a particular importance to her, since her husband of more than 20 years died suddenly from a heart attack two years ago – just three weeks after the couple moved across the country together from New York.

Wong says his death has been the biggest obstacle she’s faced in her life. “He was the one person who always believed in me,” she says, adding that his support, “gave me everything I needed to be where I am today.” How did Wong press forward personally and professionally in the midst of such unexpected tragedy?

She drew great support from her family and “strong mentors” who were there for her. They taught her the importance of a person’s actions and “that deeds should speak louder than words.” Wong has taken this lesson and applied it to her career, saying it’s important to have great people in your life and business so you can “empower them to be successful” and vice versa.

Wong hopes to give “back meaningfully to the community, so I can have influence and impact the lives of people, directly or indirectly.”
