Mixing Business with Fashion

Think it’s hard keeping up with today’s trends? Try having to predict what’s going to be in style tomorrow.

For women who work in the fashion industry, being able to anticipate what’s coming next is a requirement. How do top businesswomen in fashion keep up with trends while dressing professionally for work?

“My style could be described as classical but with a twist,” Myriam Duran, managing director of designer discount website Fashionista-Outlet, tells PINK.

At work, she sticks with dark-colored suits, high heels and tailored white shirts, “perhaps [with] a leather jacket from See by Chloe,” paired with shoes by Moschino Cheap and Chic.

In order to make a quick transition into casual wear, Duran always keeps flats around. Plus, a trenchcoat can be “perfect with any suit during the week and can also make the simplest jeans and t-shirt shine when off-duty.”

For the classic warm-weather look, Duran is a fan of “dresses with jackets, blazers and colorful scarves from McQ by Alexander McQueen.” She says it’s easy to make this summer’s trends yours without trying too hard.

You can add this Betsey Johnson earrings to a striped shirt for a nautical look that doesn’t go overboard. That way, you don’t need to shell out cash for a complete wardrobe overhaul.

Bonus PINK Link: Being a fashionista doesn’t come in only one size. Show off your figure in flattering pieces.
