If you’re an entrepreneur, you know technology moves your business towards success.
Yet, a whopping 93.2 percent of women small business owners don’t engage in any e-commerce for their business.
You’re used to dealing with a whole host of experts – from your accountant to your marketing whiz. So, why feel daunted by your tech team?
Nelly Yusupova, founder of TechSpeak for entrepreneurs, was amazed at how many entrepreneurs came to her, recounting horror stories of bad experiences with tech projects.
She started her company to explain how to manage tech projects and tech people, to women owners. Her best advice? You can never ask too many questions, or make too many comments.
It’s your project – so be vocal, she says. Make one person in your organization accountable for the project – so someone “owns” it.
To ensure your developer and you are on the same page from the launch of your project, hire developers who listen to your needs and ideas. Validate the image you are trying to create from the start and wireframe your ideas using PowerPoint, or more sophisticated tools like Balsamiq or Omnigraffle.
Don’t get fazed by jargon. If your developer throws around words you don’t understand, ask for a breakdown. Refer to websites to simplify tech savvy language. Not doing so can lead to confusion and ultimately jeopardize the task at hand.
