Swine Flu in Latin American Schools: Information to Share
Yes, we are also worried about swine flu in Latin America. A place where you feel and hear about this problem is the school door. In Latin America, we do not have the bus and transportation logistic as in U.S. public schools so you usually see dozens of parents waiting outside the school to pick up their children every day. As we have this 10-15 minute of time to talk every day, parents can exchange experiences on a daily basis and talk about their concerns.
And our concern as parents this week has been centered almost in one topic: swine flu. 215 positive cases have been identified and maybe some more will be identified in the next days. 11 schools have closed their doors because of the flu in Buenos Aires. And they will stay close for 14 days.
The concern is really big, and we are always checking that the kids are fine and remain healthy. It’s not easy when it comes to our children, but I wanted to share with you this thought. I am sure the concern is global, but if we share information and reach out for each other, we can work to increase awareness and knowledge about the condition. See you soon!
