Move Past Your PR and SEO Frustration

I have been on the phone since 5:00 a.m., and it’s now 11:00 a.m. I just got a major media-venue to agree to an exclusive story about my client. But, it’s been one hour since I spoke to him, and I haven’t heard back… what gives?

I call him up, and he says he has not received my e-mail.

Ugh! I send it again.

No luck. I try another e-mail account and server. Still, it’s a no-go.

Time is running out and technical difficulties that our out of my control are standing in the way of my success! What to do? Send a fax!

Phew! Things are back on track… for a minute.

Then, I notice that my client’s search-engine-optimization (SEO) keyword tags are not in the right place.

After a one-hour discussion with the new hire explaining the SEO research and posting process, the tags show up online again.

Yes, these were frustrating events, but I didn’t let them get to me. And I’m sure you’ve had days like this too…

You know, where you can’t get your SEO to work the way you want it to, or you have a horrible time getting through to the media members you need to pitch for a big story, or you just plain have a bad day.

Well, what do you do? Here are my tips on…

How to Push Past PR and SEO Frustration

1. Calm Down.

Stop what you’re doing and take a breath. Whatever issues are going on right now are temporary. It’s not the end of the world. Stop worrying and think of ways to remedy the situation.

2. Move Around.

Sometimes, you just need to get away from the problem… even if it’s for a few minutes. Step away from your desk and go for a short walk outside. Take in some fresh air.

If you have time, work out at the gym and get rid of the toxins in your body… and your mind. Or, eat a healthy snack and drink some water. A little pick-me-up in the form of some exercise or nutrition may be just what you need to change things around.

3. Take Action.

Stop wasting time focusing on your frustration and negativity. There are ways to solve your particular problem. You just need to stop feeling mad or sorry for yourself and figure out what you need to do.

Perhaps, you need to make a difficult phone call, start your PR activities from scratch or get some help with your SEO keywords?

Whatever it is, stop spending time in “Frustration Land” and move on to “Action Land”!

Frustration is a Part of Business.

Things will not always go smoothly in business. But you can shorten your times of frustration and turn things around for the better with a few, simple steps.
Relax, think positively and take action to remedy the situation. Before you know it, you will see success. And
if not, maybe you are just having a bad day.

The good news is… you can start fresh tomorrow
