How to Create a Money Making Blog

Chances are you’ve written a blog. But what makes one successful, while another scrambles for readership?

DIY blogger Ana White tells Little PINK Book how she got her blog to millions of page views each month.

First, she develops a unique idea.

The Alaskan homemaker mother turned her hobby of furniture design projects into an easy-to-follow guide on building stylish furniture on a budget.  “Every single person has something special and crazy about them that can influence other’s lives – and mine was building my own furniture for one-tenth of the price,” White says.

She sees blogging like this: “Your passion is your product. The way you package it is your post and your blog is simply the store that shelves your product.”

Most of her projects are requested by readers and she’s willing to give them whatever they want.

“Customer service is in the comments and social media. You don’t treat your customers like you’re doing them a favor; you bend over backwards for them. Blogging is no different than any other business,” White insists.

Her priorities are 90 percent content and 10 percent paying the bills. “I create good content first and foremost,” she says, “I wake up and live, eat and breathe what I do. This is who we are – even our luggage has drills and boards!”

White credits her success to the level of interaction with her followers.

“The community is highly involved and proud of their projects! A lot of times people modify my plans and make it their own.”
