3 Ways to Create a More Successful Business Right Now

Shh. Your competition isn’t doing this! You can have a more successful business right now….

I don’t know about you, but I deal with many kinds of people on a weekly basis. Some are hard-core sales people trying to push their products and services on me. Others are telemarketers, young interns, people who have been on the job far too long, reporters, and more. You can tell that many of these people really don’t like their job and are just going through the motions to take home a paycheck.

And then there are the people who are good communicators and get things done. These are the same people who tend to be successful in business and life.

Why?

They use some tactics that you, and your competitors, may not be aware of. But don’t worry. I’m about to reveal them right now. And guess what? They’ve been right in front of you the whole time and you probably just forgot about them!

3 Ways to Create a More Successful Business Right Now!

1. Remember. Everything is about your customers.

This point can be easy to forget, especially if you are focused on making a quota, hitting a sales number, getting a media story, finishing a project with a tight deadline, or something else. But, it’s time to think a little differently.

Before you speak to anyone online, live or via phone, ask yourself what you can give this person that will benefit them.

It may just be a compliment or kind word. It may be a free product or service, an invitation to an event, a special coupon, or something else. Be creative. Instead of focusing on your desires, think about the person you are contacting first and what their needs are right now.

As Dale Carnegie said, “You can close more business in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get people interested in you.”

2. Ask How You Can Help.

Now that you are thinking about your customers, you may not know exactly what they want right now. Why not ask, “How Can I Help You?”

And obviously, you want to ask without ulterior motives and actually be ready to help them. If you ask this question and genuinely mean it, people will probably appreciate your kindness (especially in today’s crazy world!). As simple as it may be, this gesture can be refreshing. Plus, it’s a great way to start or an improve a business relationship that leads to long-term benefits for both of you.

3. Be Thankful.

When was the last time you reached out to someone just to say, “Thanks”? This little word can go a long way, and you may not be using it as much as possible.

Why not take a moment today to send a handwritten note to someone to thank them? That’s right – not an e-mail, an actual snail-mailed note!

The person on the receiving end will appreciate the thought, and you’ll get a moment to focus on what’s really important – the people who make a difference in your life.

Take Action on These “Secrets” and See What Happens!

These insights may seem simple, but if you want to build a successful business, dealing with people is going to be a major part of that process. Focus on the needs of all the people you work with in your business and genuinely ask them how you can help them. Then, follow through and actually provide assistance where you can. Also, take the time to say “thank you” as much as possible. Not only will people appreciate your kind words, you’ll feel better about all of the great people in your life!
