Hiring an A-Team

Having the right workers in palce can be the difference between a business surviving and thriving. But hiring the right people can be a challenge.

What tactics have successful women used? “The number-one trait I look for is passion,” Jennifer Bonnett, founder of Startup Chicks, tells PINK. “It’s hard to gauge passion in interviews, so I look at facial expression and if their eyes light up talking about a project they worked on.”

Bonnett adds that she likes taking a chance on a passionate person who may not have a ton of experience.

Experts say employers hire the right person for the job only 50 percent of the time, a costly mistake. What red flags should you look for? “People who are hung up on a title,” or candidates who seem overly interested in the exit strategy, says Bonnett.

Research shows re-motivating employees, reminding them of their importance to the company, keeping them engaged, and creating a sense of loyalty can help make your current team a dream team.
