Jet Set and Save

“Many women over-pack,” Phyllis Stoller, founder of The Women’s Travel Club, tells PINK. She says packing light in the secret to saving time, tips and luggage fess.

And when women don’t? “They have to pay porters and the airline, cannot take public transportation and waste time waiting.” She explains that new, lighter luggage options exist, and business clothes now come in wrinkle-free materials.

If you’re going international, Stoller advises visiting the foreign affairs website (here’s London’s, France’s and Hong Kong’s) or following travel blogs for budgeting tips and advice. Plus, memberships with AAA or Hilton Honors can get you discounts and free upgrades.

If hotels in the heart of the city seem pricey, staying in a residential area at a well-rated hotel may be the best option. Before booking, find out “what’s next door so you know the restaurants and amenities,” Stroller suggests.

“You can eat affordably without wandering far at night or enjoy breakfast at less-than-hotel rates.” Google Earth lets you take a virtual tour of the surrounding area using your hotel’s address.

Budget Your Trip lets you easily track travel expenses, review your team’s travel habits and view real-time spending reports. For more insider tips, Pink Pangea’s forum lets women share travel experiences.
