Color of the Year
It’s official: Tangerine Tango is the color of 2012, according to the Pantone Institute.
The reddish-orange hue represents an energy boost to propel us into the new year. Designers like Nanette Lepore and Elie Tahari have already embraced it on the runways.
“Everyone needs a little energy,” and this tone will liven up your work wardrobe, says personal image consultant Peggy Parks of The Parks Image Group, Inc.
The best way to wear this vibrant color at work? Parks has the answer.
A bold print: Try pairing this Merona dress, priced at under $20, with simple brown boots or a classic camel blazer.
A peplum piece: This style works best on inverted triangle figures or women who want to give the illusion of curves. Add some understated black pumps to this orange peplum dress and you’ll be a Joan Holloway lookalike.
An accessory: Sticking to one bold accessory looks chic with a neutral suit or separates. Consider a tangerine and gold cuff bracelet or a beaded necklace. Go bolder with a metallic flat in the tangerine tint.
If you’re not a big fan of wearing orange, you can always add a small pop of color with a handbag or a throw pillow for your office couch.
