Firing Back After Being Fired

Bari Faye Siegel runs a flourishing content creation company, Get It Write.

A seasoned journalist, she offers writing, editing and marketing strategy.

She has a revered roster of corporate clients worldwide.

But she didn’t get her start, until she was laid off.

Women lost over 200,000 jobs between summer of 2009 and 2011.

Before Siegel launched her business full throttle, she served as a VP at a trade organization. After 12 years of service, the organization made a few ‘cutbacks.’ Siegel was one of them.

Since the recession struck, recovery has been tougher for women. With economic unpredictability, sudden job loss can happen to anyone.

So, how to fight back?

‘When you are terminated, you don’t have the luxury of time. Jump in and try. And if you choose the wrong thing, try again. That’s what life is about,” says Siegel.

Siegel admits that if she hadn’t faced disaster, she wouldn’t be where she is today. As painful as termination can be, it opens the door to unlimited opportunity. And the chance to find what truly makes you happy.

‘I’m happier and more confident than I’ve ever been before because I know that I’m responsible for every bit of my success,” she adds.
