The Power of “Yes”

Sailing the Caribbean for a year and becoming a photojournalist were just two dreams Kajiya Wynn Berry realized from simply saying, “Yes!”

“Yes” is what “pulls you into life” and “leaves you open to possibilities with enthusiasm,” she says.

Berry founded WindWishes, then launched The YES! Campaign. WindWishes specializes in creating hand calligraphed mementos with inspiring words on them.

The YES! Campaign encourages people to creatively share “what happened after ‘yes!’” in their own lives – through photo, text or video.

The thousands of successful women featured in Little PINK Book frequently attribute their accomplishments to taking risks and having the courage to say “yes”. “If you have an inkling that you might regret not doing it, say “yes” and plunge right in,” urges Berry.

Careerealism.com illustrates the benefits of positivity further: “If you don’t believe you can create a successful life and career, you won’t. If you do believe…you’re on the right path.”

A Duke University study shows that optimists have better career prospects and are more likely to receive job offers and be promoted quicker.

TED talks and the biography of Eleanor Roosevelt are recommended by Berry for additional “yes!” inspiration. Most importantly, she urges people to “read up on what interests you, what calls to you. Experience and learn from your adventures, business, family, personal, friends, and travel.”

Saying “yes” benefits your overall wellbeing and your career. It can pave the way towards great opportunities in your life, she adds.
