Where to Find Strength When Life Happens

According to a global index released by Dell, U.S. women are leading the world in entrepreneurship, topping the list with 8 million female-led businesses.

As it is for many women branching out on their own, the road to entrepreneurship was challenging for Tiffany Chalk, owner and creative director of Tiffany Chalk Events.

Chalk began her career polishing nails in 1991 and worked her way up to managing a million-dollar spa and salon – but she wanted something more, something to call her own.

“Chalk worked her way up to managing a million-dollar spa and salon – but she wanted something more…”

But, just as she began considering the idea of starting her own business – life happened.

In 2003, she lost a son prematurely and, in 2006, she lost twins due to pre-term labor.

“This period gave me the opportunity to spend quality time meditating, and recognizing what I believed in my heart was my purpose; starting my own event planning firm,” Chalk tells PINK.

With her husband’s support, she launched Especially for You Events in 2007.

The company, now called Tiffany Chalk Events, has become a go-to for event planning in Delaware and surrounding areas.

She learned, “Ultimately, we have to allow ourselves to choose to become stronger in the face of great pain or adversity.”
