Cool in a Cardigan
Before you can celebrate the new year, you’ve got to tie up loose ends at work. And at the mercy of the company’s temperamental thermostat, typing away at your desk isn’t easy when you feel like you should be wearing gloves and a fur coat. According to a recent survey, one third of workers say temperatures affect their productivity. One solution?
Try the cardigan. Great for work, cardigans have been given a makeover this season. Instead of traditional, plain colors, you can now choose between shades and patterns that are bright and bold – much like yourself!
Layer It: Dress down something formal by pairing a dress with a loose-fitting cardigan, like this one from Eileen Fisher, with a lengthy pendant necklace or a chunky watch. Or take a bright cardigan, like this Chadwick’s one, and wear it over a plain dress shirt. Add a belt and your favorite pair of slacks to create a flattering silhouette.
Vintage Vibe: Add a retro touch to solid, bright-colored cardigans by pinning on a sparkly or colorful flower brooch.
Go For Length: A long cardigan offers lots of versatility. Pair it with a wide leg pant and a scoop-neck top. Or try a cable-knit cardigan, like this one from Niemen Marcus, paired with a lightweight turtleneck dress and your favorite boots.
